A fair result for the last game of the season? I don’t think so.
Whitburn were strong against league winners Roker in a game that saw end to end quality play. A defensive error by Whitburn allowed Roker an easy first goal but Whitburn came back with a fantastic goal from Callum Elliott that was mysteriously disallowed???????? Jordan Greenaly brought Whitburn back into the game when he hooked a Josh Armstrong cross into the back of the Rokers net. Then just before the final whistle Roker took their second goal to win 2-1.
I feel a draw would have been a fair result. Player for player Whitburn appeared the stronger side but hey we’ve had a busy few weeks with little time to fit in any training sessions and I think that may have let us down today.
Also, although the Referee seemed a canny bloke and had a good game he really needn’t have turned up as the Rokers manager attempted to multi task (and we all know about men and multi tasking don’t we ladies?).
Just a suggestion: if managers are going to instruct referees from the side lines then maybe they ought to learn the rules themselves first.
‘ it is not an offense for a player to be in an offside position’. The player must
be involved in active play as determined by the referee to be called offside.
As quoted from the FIFA soccer rules:
Would moving kids' football to a summer game help improve the development of young footballers?
Yes - better pitches mean a better chance to develop technique/skills
No - wouldn't make any real difference to development
Maybe - but I'd be worried about more injuries on firm pitches
